Victoria at 5th Avenue - Feb. 17th 2009

Victoria Beckham works out an asymmetrical number at the Armani 5th Avenue Store opening in New York City on Tuesday night (February 17).

Victoria, 34, unleashed her second collection at New York Fashion Week on Sunday night. She commented, “This time, we have made the corset as a separate item. It’s sexy – from a woman’s perspective!” Vicky showed off 23 designs from her collection.

While speaking with the press, she described one of her grey cashmere dresses as “very Mad Max.” Her PR rep than interrupted and said, “Don’t you mean very Mad Men?” Vic laughed it off and responded, “Yes, I haven’t seen it yet. I must get the DVD!”

What the press are saying about VB’s collection

Tue, Feb 17, 2009

The UK press seem to be slight miffed that Victoria Beckham has shown her second collection in New York. I would say to the UK press, if you showed her any kind of love or respect in the first place, maybe she would not feel the need to show her collection stateside.

The price points for this collection are quite high. They start from £850 up to a high of £4,600 and £4,900 for the more elaborate, long, trained gowns.

Production for this collection will be doubled, so the 400 of Spring 2009, will become 800 for Fall 2009.

The Times said “It’s a finely-structured and perfectly-tailored collection to within a centimetre of their lives, passed by her gaze.”

The Daily Mail says, “Younger, brighter and leggier: Posh unveils ‘accomplished’ second collection of dresses.”

The Sun says. “CLEAVAGE was definitely out, but legs were IN as far as Victoria Beckham’s latest dress range was concerned.”

The Guardian says, “The popstar turned fashion designer branches out into more adventurous coats and dresses.”

Victoria shows off £80,000 diamond studded handbag

For £80,000 you could buy a one-bedroom flat in Victoria Beckham’s home town of Harlow in Essex and still have £10,000 left over.

But for fashionista Victoria that is simply the cost of her newest handbag – a designer Birkin bag studded with hundreds of diamonds.

The silver Himalayan was Victoria’s Christmas present from husband David and cost the footballer nearly a week’s worth of his wages at AC Milan.

As the rest of the world draws in its belts and tries to ride out the recession it appears that the Beckham’s are feeling more extravagant than ever.

Victoria showed off her new piece of kit, one of only three in the world, as Beckham made his debut for the club in Dubai.

The 34-year-old former Spice Girl is said to be ‘delighted’ with the bag, which features a three-carat diamond on the lock.

A source told The Sun: ‘It’s not as easy as everyone would think for David buying his wife a present every year, she is the woman with everything.’

‘But David knows the French fashion house is her favourite and he sorted the gift in Los Angeles from one of the few powerful fashion buyers who could get one.’

The waiting list for a Hilmalayan like Victoria’s has closed, with those already on it having to wait four years.

Victoria and her three sons are currently in Italy, where they are staying with David for a few days as he settles into his new role.

David is on a three-month loan to AC Milan from LA Galaxy to keep up his fitness levels ahead of the Spring World Cup qualifying matches.

But Vcitoria’s visit is only temporary, as England star Beckham has confirmed that she won’t be moving with him.

Bob Hoskins, Emma Bunton, Stephen Mangan and Neil Fox were amoung the celebrities who attended the first of two nights of cabaret performed by inclusive theatre company, Chickenshed, at the Hard Rock Cafe in Park Lane last night (9 February).

Tonight (10 February) will mark the second night of cabaret performances and it is expected that yet more celebrities, including stars of Eastenders, will turn up to show their support. For the second night running Chickenshed are expected to raise the roof of the Cafe with rock ‘n’ roll favourites, funky dance floor hits and acclaimed original material. All money raised from the two cabaret evenings will go to help Chickenshed continue their work.

Chickenshed was established in 1974 and has since created and produced more than 1,000 performances at a variety of venues including The Royal Albert Hall, Sadler’s Wells, Wembley and none other than 10 Downing Street. Their inclusive creative process means that anyone is welcome and everyone is valued. As well as creating theatre, the company also run a variety of Youth Theatre workshops and education courses. The Hard Rock Cafe has been a supporter of Chickenshed since hosting the first of many cabaret evenings in 1990 and has helped the company raise well in excess of £150,000 over the past 18 years.
